Minimize JIMM

Postby Sashka » Tue Oct 31, 2006 7:46 am

Hello,

1) (thnks) Thank you to all Jimm developers for such a nice product! Great Job!

2) (questions) In my phone (Nokia 6280) I can't minimize the application though there is such a functionality (at least mentioned). Without minimizing I can't call and do anything with my phone (only receive calls) I am using ver 0.5.1_20061024. Is it a bug? What would you recommend me to do?

thanks!

alex

Nokia S40 devices do not support Java application minimizing. S60 would support it. Also SE devices support minimizing.

servlets

Postby Sashka » Fri Nov 03, 2006 9:23 am

idea is simple - to put all Java servlets (jimm, webbrowser, games, player) into one servlet so a user can do many things at a time just switching subservlets inside a big one

re minimize

I don't still know about 'nokia' model that allows minimizing of applications and exactly java apps. I'm not sure but i think that the JIMM.org devs can't do anything to make minimizing possible on nokia devices. It's because of the software of nokia phones and there is no possibility to start more than 1 apps on nokia or after leaving the JAVA_APP open to start another instance.
It's because the usage of ram (a pace on your memory) is not big. i know that nokia are not importing enaugh memory to do that.
my req is to buy a "sony-ericsson" mobile, where everything can be minimized (with not need of software support for that)

The S60 devices have multitasking, also for Java apps. It's only the S40 which are not working.

Sorry my bad English
About what you talk is here www_dot_multime_dot_info Sorry if i can't place here any links.
It's works as one Java Midlet, but he contains all midlets which you want. It's working on my Siemens SK65, i built my midlet with Jimm, Opera, MediaPlayer, Reader and PhoneMenu, so I can brows web pages, talk in ICQ, and brows phone menu. But have one limitation, if i do any call, midlet is closes because it's a feautures Operation System(SGold) on my phone. Now i looking alternetive decision, such as ELFs on SGold-platform.

P.S. My best regards to Jimm developers. It's a best of the best of the best application from all application this class

Hello! I'm a fan of Jimm application too! This is the best application ever,i can talk all the time and it's really convenience for me and i'm sure for the others too.

About the minimization if Jimm - i'm using version 0.6.081003 on my Samsung L310, but i can't minimize the application. Is there any possibility to make that or my phone doesn't support that option like Nokia phones?

p.s. I'm using Jimm and on my SE and it's very convenient! If you have that chance try it, you'll not make a mistake!

Only SE phones, (from J300i), and Nokia smartphones (from S60 series), supports working java applications in background. Usually, if phone supports minimization, you can use phone function (ex: at SE holding back button calls menu, where, you can choice "minimize" or "close" application). "Minimize" appers in Jimm menu only at SE phones now, but possible your phone support it. If not, then minimization impossible for this phone.

In nearest builds, will be implemented "call" and "sending sms" functions directly from Jimm. In progress...

I have Siemens CX70 and it partly supports minimizing - it switches to "My menu" with customizable shortcuts..
Can this option be included in the MIDP 2.0 Siemens' build / constructor ?
It is implemented in Jimm 0.5.2b XaTTaB mod and I was wondering if it can be done here...
Only asking for usability sake...

Will be grateful for your answer
